Re-enabling Say, Pi After Chrome Updates
How to re-enable the extension when Chrome disables it
On this page
Why This Happens
When Say, Pi updates to include new features or permissions, Chrome automatically disables the extension as a security measure. This is normal browser behavior and happens with many extensions when they request additional capabilities.
How to Re-enable Say, Pi
Step 1: Open Chrome Extensions
- Type
chrome://extensions
in your address bar and press Enter - Or click the three dots menu → Extensions → 🧩 Manage Extensions
Step 2: Find Say, Pi
- Look for "Say, Pi" in your list of extensions
- You'll see it's currently disabled (toggle switch is off)
Step 3: Re-enable the Extension
- Click the toggle switch to turn Say, Pi back on
- Chrome will show a popup asking about new permissions
- Click "Enable extension" to accept the new permissions
Step 4: Verify It's Working
- Visit Pi.ai or Claude.ai
- You should see the Say, Pi call icon appear
- Try speaking to test voice functionality
What Permissions Are New?
Say, Pi now requests additional permissions to work around recent changes to Claude.ai's security policies. These permissions allow the extension to:
- Open a tab to request access to the microphone
- Create temporary windows for audio processing
- Access necessary APIs for voice functionality
These permissions are only used for Say, Pi's core voice features and never for data collection or tracking.
Still Having Issues?
If Say, Pi doesn't appear in your extensions list:
